Glen Craig Delivers Keynote Presentation at Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction
Glen Craig, an expert in disaster resilience, recently delivered a keynote presentation at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) in Brisbane. The presentation, titled "The Connecting Business Initiative: Engaging Business Networks for Disaster Resilience," emphasized the critical role of engaging businesses in the pursuit of a more disaster-resilient future.
Convened by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the APMCDRR serves as the primary regional platform in the Asia-Pacific for promoting coordination and cooperation on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Craig, representing the Geneva-based Connecting Business Initiative, highlighted the importance of collaboration between various stakeholders, including governments, non-governmental organizations, and businesses, in addressing the challenges of disaster risk reduction.
In his presentation, Glen Craig underscored the value of leveraging business networks to enhance disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. By harnessing the resources, expertise, and innovation of the private sector, the Connecting Business Initiative aims to foster a more resilient and sustainable future for communities across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
